Celebrating its 10th year, Snapshot Cal Coast invites you to explore and share observations of wildlife along the California coast using the iNaturalist app during the entire month of June. An initiative of the California Academy of Sciences, Snapshot Cal Coast focuses on data collection from all coastal-influenced habitats, with an emphasis on rocky intertidal areas.

Getting Started

- Create an Account: Start making observations right away.
- Join the Project:
- Visit the Coast: Head out on your own or join an event to observe and document coastal species during the whole month of June.
- Observe During Low Tide: If you’re heading to the tide pools, use Cal Academy’s TideFinder locate low tides in your area.
- Share Your Experience: Use the hashtag #SnapshotCalCoast on social media.
